We are thrilled to share the latest progress on our pilot testing with local trainers of immigrants and newcomers in EU. The materials for the pilot included a Welcome Package, a Train-The-Trainer Manual 1 and 2, prepared by @Desinova Studios.
@Glocal Factory received valuable feedback from trainers and participants, and here are some insights from the event:
🔹 Welcome Package:
During the discussion regarding the reception of migrants, it was highlighted how important it is to provide them with information about the territory they are in, to facilitate linguistic communication through cultural mediators, to understand their needs through meetings and dialogues, and to identify their plans and aspirations for the future. It was also emphasised to recognise their skills and potential for entrepreneurship.
🔹 Train-The-Trainer Manual 1 and 2:
The trainers discussed various ways to improve the effectiveness of training programs for migrants. They emphasised the importance of personalising training paths, creating a glossary of local terms, using simple and visual language with videos and images, implementing participatory and interactive methods, organising visits to institutions and entrepreneurs, and ensuring logistic arrangements with small groups and individual access to computers. They also emphasised the use of TREND platform modules for modular training programs, stimulating the creation of individual projects, evaluating training meetings, and certifying training to enhance migrant work.
🔹 General Feedback:
The meeting was experienced as engaging and constructive, providing practical and methodological advice to improve the working approaches of migrant trainers. It was an opportunity to enhance the inclusion of newcomers in our territories and rethink the strategies.
